CJ's Bakery
CJ's bakery is a not-for-profit baker based in North London, founded and run by Sian Chadwick and her son James. It offers adults with a learning disability the opportunity to work as bakers in a supportive environment. Each week the bakery supplies cakes for the Wave Hub cafe, which Sian sees as a 'perfect partnership' given the similarity of outlook and purpose.

CJ's bakes to order, and Wave Hub's regular weekly custom enables CJ's to have a steady stream of orders. This was helpful in the early age of CJ's, raising its profile and showcasing the excellent quality of its produce.

Many of the bakers of CJ's have arrived through the pathway of college, work experience at Wave Hub, then moving on to CJ's so our partnership was formed very naturally.

CJ's bakery welcomes all kind of orders, whether one-off for special occasions, for corporate clients and events or for friends.

Jane Wrafter
Jane has been teaching fitness, yoga and pilates in the Muswell Hill area for over 25 years. For the last three years, she has also provided a hugely popular weekly 'Everybody Movement and Wellbeing' class at Wave Hub, teaching holistic physical wellbeing through a mixture of yoga, pilates and other exercises. All participants are invited to share thoughts, suggest stretches and are encouraged to notice how different things make them feel.

Jane draws out everybody's natural ability to engage within a safe and supportive environment, and her classes encourage self-awareness and self-confidence.

Outside Wave Hub, Jane can be found at JCW Holistic fitness, where she offers a wide range of classes both in person and online. She is also a qualified counsellor working with adults.

George Wrafter
George is a personal trainer and fitness instructor, working at the Laboratory Spa and Health club in Muswell Hill.
He also runs the 'Fitness for All' classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Wave Hub. His main goal is to make people feel confident and comfortable in any fitness space, and he achieves that by making his classes fun and keeping it simple.
The friendly and celebratory atmosphere of his classes keep people coming back for more, week after week, making physical exercise a regular fixture for those who attend. George believes that fitness is for everyone, as exercise will never fail to elevate anyone's wellbeing. The thing he most enjoys about his engagement with Wave Hub is "Making people feel happier than when they arrived!".
George first became involved with Wave Hub through his mum, Jane Wrafter. She was running the fitness classes as well as her "Movement and Wellbeing" yoga-based class. George was keen to step in and take over the fitness class on a weekly basis. This opportunity has allowed him to build his experience with teaching group classes. He now considers group teaching a second nature, both at Wave and when running boot-camp fitness classes elsewhere. "Wave has really helped me grow as a fitness professional" he says.
George and Jane have both completed the required training through the Mason Foundation to help lead the weekly Wave Community Mile, covering road safety and safeguarding. Last year George took on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon as part of the team of runners raising money for Wave Hub, and intends to do it again in 2025.

TreeHouse School
Hi, I'm Rossana, an Employment specialist at TreeHouse School in North London. We're a school that supports young people with autism, helping them to develop independence and real-world skills so they can thrive beyond the classroom.

I work closely with our local community to create meaningful work experience for our pupils, and Wave Hub has become one of our most valued partners. For our students, Wave Hub isn't just a place to volunteer, it's a safe, inclusive space where they are welcomes, understood and encouraged to grow.

Our partnership began in 2022 with the Wave Cafe, and it has been a wonderful journey ever since. Through working at Wave Hub our students gain practical experience in a real work environment, while building confidence and social skills by interacting with the local community. These opportunities make a real difference in helping our young people prepare for life after school.

It's been amazing to see Wave Hub grow and our partnership deepen. We currently have three students on work placements, and six students taking part in creative and wellbeing workshops such as art, fitness and dance. And many more of our students take part in Wave Hub's seasonal fairs.

This year, Wave Hub has also offered one of our staff members the chance to deliver art and craft classes for Wave Hub users - a brilliant example of how our collaboration continues to create opportunities not just for our pupils, but for our staff and the wider community too.

Tracy Heron
I am a local florist working from my flower studio at the bottom of my garden, using seasonal and British flowers whenever possible.

Last year i ran an Advent wreath-making workshop at Wave Hub, which i loved doing - it was such a fun evening. I was thrilled that all the tickets were sold out so quickly, and the event raised a significant amount for Wave Hub's ongoing activities.

I am pleased to offer flower subscriptions, funeral flowers, flowers for small parties and events, workshops and bouquets to those living in the local community.

MH Bowling Club
Muswell Hill Bowls Club is enjoyed by local people from all sorts of different backgrounds. It is run by volunteers who put a lot of time and love into the club, and enjoy sharing it with others. We compete successfully against local bowling clubs, run internal competitions, and provide coaching for our members.

Our club is a beautiful calm haven in the heart of Muswell hill, fostering a sense of community around a shared, accessible sporting activity. We are always glad to welcome new members and local community groups who are interested to see whether bowling is the sport for them.

Wave Hub spent a very happy morning with us in the summer, at the invitation of member Nick Hughes and his wife, Debbie. Nick says 'It was a joy to share the facility and to see all the people on the green. The bowling was a great leveller!'

Challenge Group
The Challenge Group is an inclusive support and play group for families of young children with additional or special needs. We meet each money at Pages Lane Methodist Church in Muswell Hill and provide a space where parents and carers can relax a little and connect. The group is run by a team of volunteers who are there to connect with parents and children, whether for a chat or to engage the children in play while parents can have a break. Each week we offer tea, coffee, home baked cakes, a massage from a professional therapist and a bunch of flowers (donated by a local florist) all free of charge.

It's a place to have a normal playgroup experience where parents and carers can feel comfortable, supported and not feel alone or different. Some parents continue to come to the group even once their children start nursery or school, and value the understanding and support they receive. Our WhatsApp groups are also a valuable forum for information sharing, as well as encouragement and mutual support.

Harington
The Harington Scheme is a specialist educational college supporting young adults with neurodiversity and/or disabilities into employment, further education and a more independent and inclusive life.
We offer horticulture and customer service courses and a supported internship programme. Part of the students' journey with Harington is the opportunity to complete work experience in a variety of different work sectors. We have been working closely with The Wave Hub for over 5 years where they have offered customer service and hospitality work experience placements for students.
The reason for our successful partnership lies in The Wave Hub's teams ability to provide consistent support and understanding around working with mixed ability teams in fostering an open environment, undertaking regular reviews, making specific and reasonable adjustments and genuinely investing in the students' progress, skills and wellbeing. Many of the students who completed their work experience with The Wave Hub have secured paid work in their future proving The Wave Hub to be instrumental in their employment journey.

WAVE for Change
WAVE for change is a grass-roots inclusion movement that started in Muswell Hill in 2009. WAVE stands for We're All Valued Equally, and our ethos is 'with, not for'.

We work alongside individuals, churches and community organisations to help create mixed-ability places across the UK. These are special places where people with and without learning disabilities come together to share life, build friendships, and take part in activities with, not for each other.

WAVE hub is one of our flagship partners, powerfully demonstrating how vibrant mixed-ability places can boost confidence, shift unhelpful attitudes and nurture a genuine sense of belonging for everyone involved.
